Swirly tailed Lion

Hand sculpted lion sculpture with a swirly tail. The lion is made using crank clay which is purposely gritty and textured giving the sculpture the added rugged look. He is raku fired in an outside kiln using raku glazes in copper and green to create a metallic appearance. Raku is an ancient Japanese method of firing ceramics, it is often used in sculpture as the outcomes are often very unpredictable and no two are ever the same. The lion measures 24 cm x 27 cm .
